Vidalia,
Mr. Walton O. “Walt” Davis, age 86, of Vidalia, died Monday, June 4, 2018, in Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, after brief illness. He was a native of Vidalia, and lived there and Montgomery County all of his life. He retired from Oxford Industries after thirty-five years, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Vidalia Baptist Temple, and Vidalia Masonic Lodge #330. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, M.M. Davis and Avis Davis; a sister, Bobbie Reyes; and an uncle, Bernard Simpson.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, June Davis of Vidalia; two children, Waltine Moxley and husband James of Vidalia, and Johnny Davis and wife Starla of Summerville, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Clint Moxley and wife Kate of Jesup, Claire Cooper and husband Kolbe of Charleston, South Carolina, Bailee Rataj and husband Michael, and Taylor Davis, all of Summerville; two great-grandsons, Davis Rataj and Greer Oliver Cooper; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 7th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Scottie Pitts officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
