Mr. W.T. “Thomas” Copeland, age 74, of the Normantown Community, died Friday, September 20, 2019, from injuries received in an automobile accident near his home. He was a native of Montgomery County, living in Effingham County for many years before moving to Toombs County in 1971. He was a mechanic and welder with Hercules for several years, retired from the Toombs County Board of Education Transportation Department as a bus driver and currently was working at the Toombs County Convenient Centers. He attended Valley Life Worship Center in Ohoopee and Thomas enjoyed the outdoors, playing his guitar and singing with family and friends and tinkering with hot rods. He was preceded in death by a son, Don Copeland; parents, Dassie Copeland and Annie Dykes Copeland; one sister, Dorothy Coursey; and three brothers, Eschol Copeland, Joe Copeland and Elmer Copeland.
Mr. Copeland is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Gail Copeland; three children, Terrell Copeland and wife Tammy Beth, Tammy Renee Copeland, all of Normantown, and Donna Williamson and husband Dover of Santa Claus; three sisters, Dallas Mullins and husband Tom of Brunswick, Melba Morris and husband Wayne of Macon, and Doris Hutcheson and husband David of Lyons; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 26th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Plowman officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00.
