Vondell (Sewell) Blaxton

Mrs. Vondell Blaxton, age 93, of the Johnson Corner Community, died Friday, November 9, 2018, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a sudden illness.  She was a native of Tattnall County, and grew up in Cobbtown.  She lived in Vidalia and Lyons most of her life and in Johnson Corner since 2009.  She retired in 1990 from Oxford Industries and thirty-seven years of service.  She attended the Edmond Chapel Church of God and was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.  She and her late husband, Mr. Blaxton, enjoyed crappie fishing at Lake Oconee.  She was preceded in death by two husbands, Guy Davis and Herbert Blaxton; two sons, Durwood Collins and Donnie Collins; one daughter, Patricia Ann Campbell; her parents, Joshua Henry Sewell and Lori Kicklighter Sewell; and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Blaxton is survived by one daughter, Brenda NeSmith of Lyons; nine grandchildren, Cindy Howell and husband Timmy of Higgston, Donnie Sam Collins, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Staten Island, New York, Patty Akridge and husband Pete of Stillmore, James Ram Collins of Glenwood, Jimmy Collins and wife Brenda of Soperton, Ina Bridges and husband Walter of Glenwood, Shonda Jackson Whitney and husband David of Vidalia, Timmy Collins of Glenwood, and Dawn Cauley and husband Jamie of Johnson Corner; two sisters, Eunice Collins, formerly of Cobbtown and Marion Davis of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother, Roger Carter of Metter; two daughters-in-law, Wanda Toole Collins of Johnson Corner and Barbara Frailey Collins of Glenwood; two special sisters-in-law, Nanlou Sewell of Cobbtown and Elizabeth McLemore of Vidalia; fourteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

The funeral service will be held Monday, November 12th at 11:00 a.m. in the Edmond Chapel Church of God with Reverend Wayne Swanson, Pastor Matthew Floyd, and Pastor Lee Pettis officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 until just prior to the service.
