Mr. Victor C. Thompson, age 79, of Oak Park, died Monday, December 2, 2019 in Meadows Health in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a native of Miami, Florida and lived there until entering the U.S. Army. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division where he and the division were staged during the potential invasion during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Later, he moved to New York where he played the saxophone for several bands. While in New York, Victor worked as a prop man for several years for motion picture studios. He retired and moved to Oak Park in 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Clark Thompson and Pearl Marie Roberson Thompson.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his three children, Randy Thompson of New Jersey, Jesse Thompson of Singapore, and Elizabeth McKay of Florida; two sisters, Delores Galbreath of Montgomery County, and Marlene Hartman and husband Cliff of Miami; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 13th, at 3:00 p.m. in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
