Alston,

Mrs. Shirley Absher, age 77, died Thursday, June 22, 2017 in her home, after a sudden illness.  She was born in War, West Virginia, grew up in Princeton, West Virginia, lived in Jacksonville, Florida for many years, and moved to Montgomery County in 1976.  She was a member of Uvalda Baptist Church and the Happy Hearts Sunday School Class.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Absher in 2014 and her parents, Dial and Ruth Jones Hicks.

Mrs. Absher is survived by two children, Mark Absher and wife Ann of Alston and Carol Morris and husband Howard of the Long Pond Community; two sisters, Charlotte Eavenson of Shelbyville, Tennessee and Dean White of Alabama; six grandchildren, Heather Douberly of Ailey, Sarah Thompson and husband David of Vidalia, Travis “Bo” Absher and wife Courtney of Macon, Dustin Absher and wife Brittany of New Orleans, Louisiana, Austin Morris and Adam Morris of the Long Pond Community; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 24th at 3:00 p.m. in the Uvalda Baptist Church with Reverend Adrian Bell officiating.  Burial will follow in the Long Pond Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Uvalda Baptist Church, P. O. Box 56, Uvalda GA 30473.
