Ailey,
Mr. Shelby Glisson, age 83, of Ailey, died Thursday, November 22, 2018, at his home, after an extended illness. He was a native of Savannah, was a 1954 graduate of Savannah High School and Armstrong State in Savannah. He lived Ailey most of his life, and retired in 1989 with Southern Bell after thirty years. He served in the Army National Guard as a Battalion Supply Sergeant with the 118th Field Artillery Battalion. He was a member of the Voice of Faith Church in Vidalia, and he and his wife were coordinators of Jewish Roots for nine years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Alton Glisson and Erma Willene Brewer Glisson; and two sisters, Linda Glisson Kavoli and an infant sister, Kathy Michelle Glisson.
Mr. Glisson is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Dana Hughes Glisson; of Ailey; three children, Ginny Glisson Ennis and husband Beau of Glenwood, Nina Glisson Gunter of Ailey, and William Shelby Glisson, Jr. and wife Angela of Woodstock; one sister, Maree Glisson Vescelus and husband Daniel of Savannah; seven grandchildren, Jason Bush and wife Andrea, Christina Story and husband Mitchell, John Gunter and wife Katie, Jessica Bush and husband Nathan Kemper, Tiffany Gunter, Carla Morris and husband Allen, and Emma Glisson; four great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Matthew, Madelyn, and Callie Gunter; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 25th at 2:00 p.m. in the Voice of Grace Church with Pastor Charles Carter and Pastor Kay Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
