Mrs. Ruth G. Jenkins, age 94, of Vidalia, died Sunday, September 29, 2019, in Oxley Park Health and Rehabilitation in Lyons, after an extended illness. She was a native of Potsdam, Germany and lived there until meeting her husband, an American serviceman, at the end of World War II. They moved to Tampa, Florida in 1948 and she lived there until moving to Vidalia in 1992. While in Tampa she owned Bambi’s Kindergarten and Day Nursery for nine years and later founded Jenkins Bookkeeping which she operated for twenty-five years. She was raised Lutheran and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in Vidalia. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Jenkins.
Mrs. Jenkins is survived by one daughter, Teresa “Terry” Yates and husband Jerry; one granddaughter, Sarah Yates and fiancé Dan Rossmann, all of Vidalia; and one sister, Gisela Echart of Chico, California.
