Ruby Fields Obituary

Lyons,

Ruby M. Fields was finally reunited with her husband of 42 years, Jerry A. Fields, on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Community Hospice in Vidalia, Georgia after a long battle with cancer.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Fields, her mother Ruby Anderson Mosley and father, Onie Clinton Mosley, Sr., as well as two infant sons.  Mrs. Fields was a bookkeeper all of her life, having worked for several years at Max Smith’s Department Store in Vidalia, and with Roy Stewart General Office Services in Lyons, as well as helping run the family business, Fields Construction, Inc.  She was much more than a bookkeeper. She did so many things for so many people.  She was always willing to help anyone that needed it, without question, and was known by several names to the people that knew, loved and respected her.  She was the backbone of not just her Mosley Family, but for the Fields Family, and their extended families as well. Whether she was being called Mama, Ruby, Ruby Dean, Aunt Ruby Dean, Mrs. Fields, or Mema it did not matter. She was always the same. Always firm, always fair, and treated everyone just the same. She not only raised her two children, but had a hand in raising countless others, whether they were related by blood or by bond.  She treated everyone with the same amount of love, respect, guidance and discipline, as she saw fit.

Mrs. Fields is survived by two children, son Johnny Fields and wife, Jean and daughter Sandy Fields, all of Lyons; three grandchildren, Jessica Fields Soles and husband Brandon, Brooke Hadden and Michael Gillis, all of Lyons; two great-grandchildren, Memphis and Payton Soles, and Mema’s boys, Slade Crosby, Seth Gay, Dilan Flowers and Emmett Denmark; three sisters, Julia Dent of Macon, Jo Toole of the New Branch Community, and Carolyn Meadows of Lyons; one brother, Onie Clinton “Junior” Mosley, Jr. and wife Mary Nell of Lyons; numerous cousins, some double first cousins, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and countless others that she considered ‘hers’.  Also, her cousin Freida Todd and husband Jesse of the Toombs Central Community, her very dear friends, Evelyn Herring and husband Richard, and Roy Stewart and wife Judy, all of Lyons.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Brothers Daniel Caraway, Buddy Toole, and Jesse Todd officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
