Vidalia,

Mr. Royce Allen, age 74, of Vidalia, died Sunday, October 1, 2017, at his home.  He was a native of Alston and lived in Montgomery County until moving to Vidalia in 1970.  He was a 1960 graduate of Montgomery County High School and attended Swainsboro Technical Institute and Southeastern Technical Institute.  He retired as an engineer from Thomas and Betts after thirty-five years and worked for Trane for six years.  He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of East Gordon Street Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir.  He coached football and baseball with the Vidalia Recreation Department.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rosa Lee Walker Allen and four brothers, Jimell Allen, Billy Allen, Morris Allen, and Melvin Allen.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Ethelene Beasley Allen of Vidalia; three children, Chris Allen of Vidalia, Jeff Evans and wife Shannon of Alston, and Lisa Parker and husband Donald of Vidalia; one brother, Jerry Allen and wife Gracie of Fayetteville, North Carolina; three sisters, Pauline Odom and husband John of Apopka, Florida, Betty Morris of Uvalda, and Barbara Hart and husband “Cub” of Alston; and four grandchildren, Wesley Parker of Buford, Matthew Parker and wife Rustin of Lyons, Meagan Millsaps of Athens, and Adelyn Evans of Alston.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 5th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Bruce Conner officiating.  Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
