Rosalyn (Courtney) Harrell

Mrs. Rosalyn “Lynne” C. Harrell, age 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on June 1, 2018.  Lynne recently moved with her husband from Clayton, North Carolina to be near his family.   Lynne was born in Bradenton, Florida.  Lynne graduated from Manatee High School in 1957 and attended Wesleyan College after completing high school.  Lynne’s career was initially raising her children by being at home with them through their school years.  Her second career was working at the Sears Telecatalog Center and RPS, a mail order prescription drug company. 

Lynne loved her church; she taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir while she was physically able.  She read and studied the Bible each day until she became too ill. Her current church is the Vidalia First United Methodist where her membership was recently transferred from Horne United Methodist Church in Clayton, North Carolina.  Her other activities were singing in a community chorus, volunteering to work in a Crisis Pregnancy Center and supporting other charity functions as needed.  She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar C. Courtney and mother, Catherine S. Maines.

Lynne is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, James “Jim” Harrell and daughters Karan Wilson and husband Kevin of Chesterfield, Virginia, Ame Lane and husband Mike of Vidalia, Rebecca Dunhem and husband Dan of Cary, North Carolina, and Rhonda Franks and husband Steven of Folsom, California; The families of the daughters have given her ten wonderful grandchildren: Troy W. Courtney L., Erin W., Parker L., Rob W., Anthony F., Jonathan D., Kira F., Brayden D., Landon D.  Family meant everything to her, she was thrilled to see or even talk to these every chance she had.  She is also survived by one sister, Rosie Stewart and two brothers, Robert and Donnie Maines, all of Florida.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 12th at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Lane and Pastor Jim Smith officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 4:30 until just prior to the service.
