Rodney "Hotrod" Peters

Mr. Rodney “Hotrod” Peters, age 67, of Vidalia, died Saturday, March 2, 2019, in the Landmark Hospital of Savannah, after a brief illness.  He was a native of Alum Creek, West Virginia and was a 1970 graduate of Duval High School Lincoln County.  He moved to Vidalia in 1970 and was a self-employed contractor.  He was a former member of the Vidalia/Lyons Moose Lodge #1271, and was a certified volunteer for the Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Relief Services.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia.  Rodney enjoyed working on cars, watching dirt track racing and NASCAR.  He was a well-known prankster, but his primary focus was his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Benard Peters and Virginia Lee Morris Peters; and a sister, Sharon Fouts.

Rodney is survived by his best friend and former wife of thirty-fouryears, Reba Hadden Peters of Vidalia; six children, Blake Peters, Lash Peters Clemens and husband Joel, Ross Peters, all of Vidalia, Brooke Peters and Richard Kemp of Lyons, Malorie Peters Harvill and husband Bryan of the Center Community, and Cody Peters of Vidalia; two sisters, Linda Radochio and husband John of St. Albons, West Virginia, and Betty Jean Yoder and husband Don of Abbeville, Alabama; three brothers, Rick Peters, Randy Peters, and Russ Peters, all of Alum Creek; four grandchildren, Micah, Raegan, Sawyer Athens, and Aubryen; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and a very special friend, Lorraine H. Anderson, who he referred to as his “other wife”.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 7th at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend David Blalock and Reverend Jim Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in the Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
