Oak Park,
Mr. Robert H. Beecher, age 83, of Oak Park, died Sunday, July 7, 2019, in Serenity Place in Dublin, after an extended illness. He was a native of Oak Park and was a 1953 graduate of Oak Park High School. He lived in Garden City and Effingham County for many years; retiring from Union Camp after forty-four years, and returned home to Oak Park in 2005. He was a member of the Olney Primitive Baptist Church in Oak Park and enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years, Louise Kirby Beecher; parents, LaFayette Johnson Beecher, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Strange Beecher; and a brother, LaFayette Johnson Beecher, Jr.
Mr. Beecher is survived by two sons, Bobby Beecher and wife Kathy of Oak Park and Chris Beecher and wife Kathy of Guyton; two brothers, Jennings Beecher and wife Carolyn of Macon and David Beecher and wife Mary Ann of Oak Park; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 9th, at 3:00 p.m. in the Olney Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Bill Durrence officiating. Burial will follow in the Beecher Family Cemetery near Oak Park.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
