Gray’s Landing,

Mr. Paul Thompson, age 71, of Gray’s Landing, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017.  He was a native of Ailey and a 1963 graduate of Montgomery County High School.  He attended Brewton Parker College and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia Southern University.  He was a U. S. Navy veteran of Vietnam and served on the U.S.S Hornet. He worked for fifteen years with the Savannah Police Department and was on the S.W.A.T team and T.R.A.P. team.  He retired after twenty-five years as Warden of Telfair State Prison. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Paul Thompson and Christine Green Thompson and one brother, David Thompson.

Mr. Thompson is survived by one son, Brett Thompson of Uvalda; one granddaughter, Katie Thompson; and two brothers, Mike Thompson of Mt. Vernon and Dannie Thompson of Uvalda.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 7th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Efton Green officiating.  Burial will follow in Glen J. Thompson Cemetery near Ailey.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 until 7:00.
