Mr. Ollie Duncan “Bill” Loyd, age 81, of Uvalda, died at his home on Thursday, October 3, 2019, after an extended illness. He was a native of Montgomery County, living in Orlando, Florida for fifteen years before returning to Uvalda and the Vidalia area. He was an automotive mechanic all his life, working in most of the dealerships in Vidalia and six years with Copper Construction as their mechanic. He was the owner of Bill’s Service Center for many years in Uvalda and Ailey and was a member of New Corinth Baptist Church. He was an avid supporter of the Vidalia Indians, where he grilled the food for concessions and supplied drinks for the players. Bill was preceded in death by one son, Duncan Eric Loyd; his parents, Ollie Frank Loyd and Agnes Ward Loyd; one sister, Gennie Graham; and two brothers, Tebo Loyd and Everett Loyd.
Mr. Loyd is survived by two daughters, Lisa Loyd Phillips and husband Gerry of Vidalia, Linda Loyd Williamson of Uvalda; three brothers, Roy Loyd of Uvalda, Frank Loyd and wife Glenda of South Carolina, and J. B. Loyd of North Carolina; two sisters, Shirley Loyd Brinson and husband Rudolph of Vidalia, and June Loyd Kersey of Orlando, Florida; five grandchildren, Jeremy Loyd, Christy Loyd Cash, Shawn Loyd, Lacie Wilkes, and Zachary Hitchcock; five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, several nieces, nephews and his dear friend, Ron Streeter.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 5th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Emory Fennell officiating. Burial will follow in the Braddy Cemetery in Kibbee.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
