McIntyre,
Mr. Roy Nelson Brinson, age 76, of McIntyre, entered into rest on Monday, July 16, at his home, after an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County, and was a 1960 graduate of Toombs Central High School. He earned an Associate Degree from South Georgia State College in Douglas, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. He retired as Warden after thirty seven and a half years from the Georgia Department of Corrections, and was a member of the Peace Officers Association of Georgia. He was a Deacon and member of the Northside Baptist Church in Milledgeville, was ordained as a Deacon in 1971, and was a Gideon.
Mr. Brinson is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Dorothy Dixon Brinson of McIntyre; two daughters, Connie Brinson Christian and husband Tom of Tucson, Arizona, and Cynthia Brinson Starling and husband Ed of McIntyre; two granddaughters, Amber Griffin of McIntyre and Alyssa Barlow of Milledgeville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the Northside Baptist Church in Milledgeville with Reverend Dr. Jerry Pickard officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens near Vidalia at 4:00 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 in Vidalia and on Thursday morning from 9:00 until 11:00 at Northside Baptist Church.
