Mrs. Nellie Stephens Williams, age 81 of the Johnson Corner Community, died Thursday, September 26, 2019, in Meadows Park Health and Rehabilitation, after an extended illness. She was a native of Toombs County, growing up in the Providence Community and lived in Johnson Corner most of her life. She was a homemaker and previously worked with The Advance. She was a member of the Providence Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed her flowers and working in her garden. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Ella Mae Stephens; one sister, Mary Horton; and three brothers, Harold Stephens, Herbert Stephens and Wade Stephens.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband of sixty years, Twiggs Williams of Johnson Corner; one daughter, Wanda Johnson and husband Benny of Lyons; three sons, Stevie Williams of Johnson Corner, Marty Williams and wife Vicki of Cedar Crossing, and Jimmy Williams and wife Jennette of Collins; four grandchildren, Jeremey Williams and wife Jennifer, Nicole Burton and husband Jamie, Lindsey Williams and Trey Williams; six great-grandchildren, Harper, Andrew, Madison, Reagan, Hailey and Gabe; one sister, Linda Morris and husband Wyman of Higgston; two brothers, Bobby Stephens and wife Kay, and Howard Stephens and wife Mildred of Savannah; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 29th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Barnard and Reverend Bill Black officiating. Burial will follow in the Hardens Chapel Cemetery.
The family will assemble at the residence of a daughter, Wanda Johnson, 958 Ben Roy McLendon Road, Lyons, and receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service..
