Mrs. Nell Atkins Hightower, age 91, of the Kibbee Community, died Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at her home, after an extended illness. She was a native of Vidalia, grew up there as a child, and has lived in Montgomery County for more than sixty years. She was a homemaker and was Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady L. Hightower; a grandson, Joshua Eason; parents, L.H. Atkins and Eva Mae Hutcheson Atkins; and five siblings, Ruth, Nettie, Maize, Russell and Betty.
Mrs. Hightower is survived by three daughters, Reba Evans, Jean Brooks and Becky Hightower Dykes and husband Gary, all of Vidalia; one sister, Joyce Stanford of Vidalia; four grandchildren, Chris Eason and wife Becky of Hinesville, Jamie Brooks and wife Kristan of Coweta County, Macy Dykes and Taylor Dykes of Kibbee; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 27th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Brandon Gillis officiating. Burial will follow in the Ruth’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
