Mr. Nathan “Nate” Caraway, age 49, of the Normantown Community, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017, in Burke County, after a sudden illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, and lived in Normantown for the past five years.  He worked with World Fiber Technology as foreman for several years, and presently worked with Williams Brothers Trucking in Hazlehurst.  He served in the Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq in 2003 during the Iraq War.  He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Vidalia.  Nathan was an avid softball player, playing most of his life in church leagues, men’s leagues, and multiple travel ball teams.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Annie Ruth Joyner Caraway,

Mr. Caraway is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Diane McGahee Caraway; two children, Landon Meeks and Alexis “Lexy” Caraway, all of Normantown; two brothers, Adam Caraway and wife Sheila, and Mitchell Caraway, all of Lyons; one sister, Phelisha Caraway of Normantown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held Friday, June 9th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Elemer Caraway and Reverend Daniel Caraway officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pinecrest.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
