Vidalia,

Mr. Mike Burkett, age 56, of Vidalia, died Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at his home, after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, and was a 1979 graduate of Vidalia High School. He was a painter for J.B. Dykes Construction Company for several years, was an avid reader, artist, and enjoyed creating abstract drawings. He was preceded in death by his father, James Burkett.

Mr. Burkett is survived by two children, Brittany Burkett and Will Burkett; mother and step-father, Lynn and M.C. Gilliland; two brothers, Paul Burkett and Jim Burkett; two grandsons, Gabe and Julius Burkett, all of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.

A family gathering and a celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date.
