Vidalia,

Mrs. Merle Spivey Dennis, age 99, of Vidalia, died Wednesday November 22, 2017, in the Community Hospice in Vidalia, after a brief illness.  She was an active member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church for more than seventy years, and was a member of the Embelle Darby Sunday School Class.  She worked for Vidalia Cleaners and Globe Manufacturing for many years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Dennis; son, James Elton Dennis; parents, John B. Spivey and Dissie Bush Spivey; six sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Dennis is survived by one daughter, Treasure Dennis Wasdin of Vidalia; eight grandchildren, Christopher Hugh Batchelor, Denise Narrow, James E. Dennis, Jr. and wife Jennifer, Angela Batchelor Flood and husband Jimmy, Cynthia L. Spires, Jennifer Wasdin Impeduglia and husband John, Melissa Poole and husband Mann, and Kimberly Kelly; twenty great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 26th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall with Reverend Ronnie McKenzie, Reverend Randy McDuffie, Reverend Bobby Thompson, and Reverend Gene Helton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 until 7:00.
