Lyons,

Mrs. Mary Ellen Poole Dismuke, age 83, of Lyons, died Wednesday, November 15, 2017, in Meadows Health and Rehabilitation in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  She was a native of Oak Park and was a graduate of Oak Park High School.  She moved to Vidalia in 1963, and has lived in Lyons since 1974.  She was a homemaker, a member of the Olney Primitive Baptist Church in Oak Park, and formerly served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Ladies Circle.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening.  She was preceded in death by her husband William “Bo” Dismuke; parents, Andrew and Lillie Vaughn Poole; and two brothers, Estel Poole and Howard Poole.

Mrs. Dismuke is survived by three children, Andy Dismuke and wife Rhett of Lyons, Wendell Dismuke and wife Sherry of Carrollton, and Lisa Dismuke Powell of Lyons; seven grandchildren, Drew Dismuke, Christopher Dismuke, Stephanie Senft, Stacy Dismuke, Stephan Powell, Katherine Dismuke Drummond, and Matthew Powell, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, November 17th at 11:00 a.m. in the Olney Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Bill Durrence officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Park City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
