Martha Nell (Gordy) Powell

Mrs. Martha Nell Gordy Powell, age 82, of Lyons, died Saturday, October 19, 2019, in Oxley Park Health and Rehabilitation in Lyons, after an extended illness.  She was a native of Toombs County and lived in Lyons all of her life.  She was member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons and was a homemaker and caregiver.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Thomas “Shorty” Powell; parents, Jim Paul Gordy, Sr. and Evelyn Moseley Gordy; one sister, Faye Tyson; and one brother, Billy Gordy.

Mrs. Powell is survived by four sons, Stephen Joseph Powell and wife Sandra, William Keith Powell and wife Gwen, David W. Powell and wife Fay, and Randall A. Powell and wife Jeri, all of Lyons; two sisters, Helen Kirkland of Savannah and Ann Alchian of Colorado; five brothers, Jim Paul Gordy, Jr. of Lyons, Ronald Gordy and wife Betty of Savannah, Robert Gordy and wife Sue of Missouri, Mike Gordy and wife Jenny of Alabama, and Wallace Gordy and wife Leanne of Lyons; and numerous, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 22nd, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend David Lamm officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
