Margie Hamrick Graefenecker, age 94, passed away at Tranquility Hospice at Kennesaw Mountain in Marietta, Georgia surrounded by her family on Monday, October 7, 2019. She was born on August 23, 1925 in Lumber City, Georgia to Travis and Rose Hamrick. Following high school, she attended Georgia College for Women where she sang in the Acapella Choir. In addition to being a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker, she was a talented and sought-after floral designer. Throughout her life, she enjoyed singing in the choirs of the First Baptist Church in Vidalia, Metter Primitive Baptist Church, and the First Baptist Church of Hilton Head. In addition to her church activities, she enjoyed playing golf and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Travis and Rose Hamrick, brothers Travis Lee Hamrick and Jack Hamrick; and husband Donald Graefenecker.
She is survived by her three children Cherie Snyder of Metter, Georgia, Saundra Camacho (Albert) of Shellman Bluff, Georgia, and Sam Rothrock (Sheila) of Kennesaw, Georgia; Seven grandchildren, Adrian Snyder, Andrey Snyder, Joseph Sparks, Ryan Sparks, Addison Rothrock, Adam Rothrock, and Cole Rothrock; brother Wendall Hamrick (Sue Ellen) of Vidalia, sister Avalon Dalrymple of Helen, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.
Following a viewing at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9 at Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, a graveside service will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery in Vidalia with the Reverend Michael Holt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
