Mrs. Margie Bloodworth Clark, age 97, of the Marvin Community, died Sunday, December 15, 2019, at her home, after an extended illness. She was a native of Wilkinson County and was Valedictorian of her class at Mt. Carmel High School. She earned an Associate degree in Education from Georgia State College for Women and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Georgia Southern. She began her teaching career in 1941 at Toombs Central, and later teaching at Marvin, Lyons and Reidsville, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association and the Marvin United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, D.C. “Doc” Clark; parents, John Pinkney Bloodworth and Ada Elizabeth Holder Bloodworth; and twelve siblings.
Mrs. Clark is survived four sons, John Clark and wife Sarah of Mechanicsville, Virginia, Eric Clark and wife Christine of Marvin, Winston Clark of Statesboro, and Richard Clark and wife Glenda of Marvin; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 18th, at 1:00 p.m. in the Marvin United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Kennedy and Pastor John G. Bloodworth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until just prior to the service.
