Lyons,

Mrs. Lavette McGahee, age 82, of Lyons, died Saturday, September 16, 2017, at her home, after an extended illness.  She was a native of Swainsboro, lived in Dublin for five years, and moved to Lyons in 1961.  She worked in the garment industry most of her life, including Toombs Apparel, Oxford Manufacturing in Vidalia and Dublin, and Toombs, Hazlehurst, and Rosebud Manufacturing.  She was Holiness by faith.  She was preceded in death by her husband Olan Jackson McGahee; one daughter Audrey Kight; parents Jim Hines and Geneva Magdalene Roundtree Hines; one brother James Hudson; and two sisters Wylene Mills and Voncille Mills.

Mrs. McGahee is survived two children Patricia A. Williams of Lyons and Jimmy McGahee and wife Lisa of the New Branch Community; three grandchildren Daniel Williams, Christopher Williams, and Jamie Simmons; three great-grandchildren Bradley Williams, Jordan Simmons, and Jenna Simmons; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 19th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Elemer Caraway officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00
