Mr. Larry W. “Bud” Phillips, age 77, of Dublin, died Friday, June 1, 2018, in the Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, after a sudden illness. He was a native of Wheeler County, and graduated high school there. He was a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, and soon after was licensed by the State of Georgia as a funeral director and embalmer. His career span more than fifty years in funeral service, with thirty of those years at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory in Decatur. He formerly attended the First Baptist Church of Soperton. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Wyman Phillips and Opal Anderson Phillips.
Mr. Phillips is survived by four children, Cindy Phillips Broeker of Cumming, Anita Phillips Mullis and husband Ed of East Dublin, Kaye Phillips House of Cumming, and Nancy Phillips Brewington and husband Mike of Holly Springs, North Carolina; one brother, Jimmy Phillips and wife Sandra of Swainsboro; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 4th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
