Vidalia,
Mrs. Karen Vaughn Connell, age 71, of Vidalia, died Thursday, February 21, 2019, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. She was a native of Oak Park, was a 1966 graduate of Swainsboro High School, and has lived in Vidalia most of her life. Karen was the Cafeteria Manager at Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons for twenty-two years, and was self-employed as a cake maker. She was a member of the Olney Primitive Baptist Church in Oak Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Cellie Vaughn; two sisters, Faye Garrett and Savilla Taylor; and a brother, Calvin Vaughn.
Mrs. Connell is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Neal Connell; three children, Todd Connell and wife Jaudon, Sharon Connell Collins and husband Keith, Amanda Connell Helms and husband Cary, all of Vidalia; one brother, Curtis Vaughn of Lyons; nine grandchildren, Gail Hall of San Antonio, Texas, Leslie Wiggins of Vidalia, Colby Collins and wife Janna of New Branch, Sydni Perry and husband Kaleb of Vidalia, Allie Collins of Vidalia, Michael Helms and wife Andrea of Statesboro, Brianna Helms and Emily Helms, both of Vidalia; four great-grandchildren, Hayden Wiggins, Aaron Brysch, Daniel Brysch, and Hollyn Helms; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 24th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Elder Bill Durrence and Reverend Randy McDuffie officiating. Burial will follow in the Waters Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
