Cedar Crossing,
Mr. Joe “Joey” Henry Wolfe, Jr., age 69, of the Cedar Crossing Community, died Friday, March 22, 2019, in Meadows Health in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County and lived in Cedar Crossing all of his life. Joey was a farmer and retired after thirty-nine years as an electrical engineer and foreman with Altamaha EMC. He was a member of the Smyrna United Methodist Church and was a member of Milliken Creek Masonic Lodge #302. Joey and his late wife Brenda were known for their ten acre Christmas display, “The Lights of Hilldale” that was shared with the Cedar Crossing Community for over fifteen years. Joey was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Pittman Wolfe; parents, Joe Henry Wolfe, Sr. and Louise Poole Wolfe; and two sisters, Sara Wolfe Gonzalez and Dr. Sandra Wolfe Hickman.
Mr. Wolfe is survived by one daughter, Dr. Rebecca Lou Wolfe of Cedar Crossing; his fiancé’, Karen Tyson Ouzts of Cedar Crossing; four nephews, Dr. Mike Cleveland Hickman, Jr., Dr. Stanley Jason Hickman, Ivan Joseph Gonzales and Bert Anthony Gonzales; one niece, Amelia Gonzalez Scheonoble, and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 24th at 2:00 p.m. in the Smyrna United Methodist Church with Pastor Reece Mincey and Pastor Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
