Mr. Joe V. Rolen, Sr., age 85, of Lyons, died Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia, after a brief illness. He was a native of Sevierville, Tennessee and spent most of his life in Toombs County. He served in the United States Army and retired after twenty-one years of service. After his service, he was employed with the Toombs County Board of Education in the maintenance department and retired from there as well. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was preceded in death by his son, Joe V. Rolen, Jr.; parents, Gaine and Dona Rolen; and one sister, LaRue Martin; former wife, Gladys Bryant Rolen.

Mr. Rolen is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Joanne Rolen of Lyons; seven children, Gaine Rolen and wife Lolita of Aurora, Missouri, Donna Rolen of Lyons, Cheryl Klipsch and husband Dave of Fountain, Colorado, Belinda Beck and husband Jason of Soperton, Patricia Huard of Apopka, Florida, Joanne Richardson and husband Marty of Ailey, and John Rolen and wife Jennifer of Vidalia; fourteen grandchildren, Faith, Isaiah, Brian, Kristy, Amanda, Devin, Nathan, Brittany, Daley, Piper, Danny, Andrew, Jameson, and Jax; and two great-grandchildren, Luis and Noah.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 15th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Deacon Joe Claroni officiating. Burial will follow in Lyons City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
