Lyons,
Mr. Jerry W. McCombs, age 73, of the Blue Ridge Community, died Friday, June 15, 2018, in Specialty Select Hospital in Augusta, after an extended illness. He was a native of Birmingham, Alabama, moved to Rex, Georgia in Clayton County in 1961, and has lived in the Blue Ridge Community since 1975. Jerry was a 1963 graduate of Jonesboro Senior High School, and earned an Associate Degree from Southern Technical Institute in Marietta. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1966 and was a of Vietnam veteran. He worked as Construction Project Manager for K-Mart Corporation for twenty-two years and as Construction Project Manager for Home Depot for fifteen years. He attended Marietta Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Lottie Brakefield McCombs.
Mr. McCombs is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Amelia M. McCombs of Blue Ridge; two daughters, Janna McCombs Tabor and husband Britt of Lyons, and Jennifer McCombs Mercer and husband Jamie of Moultrie; two brothers, Jack McCombs and James McCombs, both of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren, Blake Burkett, Elaine Mercer, Brittan Tabor, Amelia Mercer, and Collin Mercer; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 20th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Jackson, Reverend Irvin Murphy, and Reverend Ken Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
