Higgston,
Mr. John Guy “Jay” Morris, age 53, of Higgston, died Thursday, September 27, 2018, in Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, after an extended illness. He was a native of Mt. Vernon, and lived there until moving to Higgston twenty-eight years ago. Jay was a 1983 graduate of Montgomery County High School and Swainsboro Technical College. While in high school, Jay was a star baseball pitcher, and held the homerun record until the past few years. He was owner/operator of Higgston Paint and Body for ten years, and was a member of the Zaidee Advent Christian Church in Treutlen County. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and was passionate about his Atlanta Braves.
Jay is survived by his wife, Stella K. Morris of Higgston; two children, Sara Nikole Morris and husband Charlie of Tarrytown, and Zachary Joseph Morris of Higgston; his parents, Johnny and Glenda Davis Morris of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Rich Morris and wife Janet of McRae-Helena, Matt Morris and wife Stephanie of Warner Robins, and Mike Morris of Atlanta; four nephews and two nieces.
The funeral service will be held Monday, October 1st at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Durden, Gene Stewart, and Reverend Randall Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Ferguson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 8:00.
