Janice Dowdy

Mrs. Janice Diane Dowdy, age 65, of Vidalia, died Monday, December 10, 2018 at Augusta University Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was a native of McRae before moving to Vidalia in 1978. Janice was a homemaker, Baptist by faith, loved reading her Bible, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie and John Douglas Hindman and her aunt, Audrey Harn.  

Mrs. Dowdy is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Gary Dowdy of Vidalia; three children, Michael Dowdy of Vidalia, Gregory Dowdy and wife Melissa of Warner Robins, and Kimberly Dowdy with Jay Williams of Vidalia; five sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Hindman Peacock of San Antonio, Texas, Bonnie Lattimer and husband Charles of Oviedo, Florida, Joanne Turner of Fayetteville, Nell Jenkins and husband Baughn of Carrollton,  and Jackie Watson and husband Joseph of McRae; six grandchildren, Nicholas Gillette, Anastacia Dowdy, Adain Varnadore, Logan Varnadore, Mason Dowdy, Braelyn Dowdy; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, December 14th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Aldrich. A private burial will follow at a later date.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
