Lyons,
Mr. James Willard “Jim” Vaughn, age 98, of Lyons, died Monday, May 28, 2018, in the Oaks Bethany in Vidalia, after a brief illness. He was a native of Oak Park and lived there until joining the Marines in 1939. He was a veteran of World War II, and served in the Pacific Theater of operation. He lived in Lanham, Maryland for forty years and was a realtor there. He moved to Lyons in the late 1970’s, and was a member of the Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Tattnall County. He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy-two years, Ruth Osborne Vaughn; parents, Ottis Cleveland Vaughn and Bertha Deal Vaughn; one sister, Mildred Davis; and five brothers, John Henry Vaughn, Edward Vaughn, Cleveland Vaughn, Lonnie Vaughn, and Raymond Vaughn.
Mr. Vaughn is survived two sisters-in-law, Lennie Vaughn and Jo Ann Vaughn, both of Vidalia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 2nd at 3:00 p.m. in the Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Tom Deal and Elder W.H. Durrence officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
