Cedar Crossing Community,
Mr. Jack McCarty, age 83, of the Cedar Crossing Community, died Sunday, April 7, 2019, in Meadows Health in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a native of Tattnall County, living in Statesboro for twenty-five years, and most of his life in Cedar Crossing. Early in his life, he was a welder at the Navy Shipyard in Charleston, South Carolina. While in Statesboro, he owned and sold produce for twenty-five years, and most recently was a self-employed truck driver. He attended Bethel – The Church of God in Cedar Crossing, and was preceded in death by a son, Victor McCarty; and parents, John and Lexie McCarty.
Mr. McCarty is survived by five children, Rickey McCarty and wife Cathy of Cedar Crossing, Danny McCarty of Cedar Crossing, Timmy McCarty and wife Traci of Statesboro, Lacy Carver and husband Clint of Glenwood, and J.R. McCarty of Texas; one sister, Wilma Rowell and husband Junior of Hazlehurst, two brothers, Ronnie McCarty and wife Earlene of Hazlehurst, and Ed McCarty and wife Geneva of Jeffersonville; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service funeral service will be held Friday, April 12th at 11:00 a.m. in the Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Rickey McCarty officiating.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
