Hoke Oliver Obituary

Vidalia,

Mr. Hoke C. Oliver, age 82, of Vidalia, died Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a lifelong native of Toombs County and served in the United States Army. Hoke was Baptist by faith and a former member of the Moose Lodge and the Jaycees. He was head mechanic for Rose Bud Manufacturing and Levi Strauss, retired from Rogers State Prison in Reidsville, and loved hunting, fishing, mechanical work, and wood working. Hoke was preceded in death by parents, Jeffrey and Kizzie Oliver; seven brothers, Troy Oliver, Marvin Oliver, Leroy Oliver, Jay Oliver, Ellis Oliver, W.C. Oliver, and Raiford Oliver; and two sisters, Christine Howell and Elizabeth Dew.

Mr. Oliver is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Patricia Foskey Oliver of Vidalia; one son, Brian Oliver and wife Tammy of Lyons; one daughter, Kimberly Davis Powell and husband Rick of Vidalia; three granddaughters, Britany Powell Gibson and husband Ryan, Emily Powell, and Abigail Oliver; one great-grandson, Gabriel Martinez; one loyal companion, “Dixie”; two sisters-in-law, Doris Oliver of Metter and Helen Oliver of Effingham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 31st at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend James Salters officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
