Uvalda,
Mr. Harris Meadows, age 75, of Uvalda, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  He was a native of Toombs County, a 1959 graduate of Vidalia High School, and has lived in Uvalda since 1975.  He began his banking career in 1964 with First National Bank, later as Vice-President of Altamaha Bank and Trust where he worked most of his career, and more recently as Branch Manager with Southeastern Bank in Hazlehurst.  He was a member of the Uvalda Baptist Church, where he served in numerous capacities, including Sunday school teacher for twenty years, former Sunday School Director, and served as Deacon and Trustee.  He served on the Uvalda City Council, served in the Army National Guard, and was a former member of the Jaycees.  He was preceded in death by his parents, I.H. and Ruth Meadows; and a sister, Barbara Meadows Berchet.

Mr. Meadows is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Gail Meadows of Uvalda; two daughters, Wendy Conner and husband Mart of Vidalia, and Malinda K. Meadows of Uvalda; two brothers, Jimmy Meadows and wife Sibley of Vidalia, and Hamp Meadows and wife Teresa of Lyons, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 13th at 3:00 p.m. in Uvalda Baptist Church with Reverend Adrian Bell and Reverend Don Patterson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Uvalda City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
