H.L. “Red” Walker, Sr., age 82, of Higgston, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at his home, after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County and was Holiness by faith. He was a lifelong farmer and retired from Ailey Manufacturing after forty years as a garment designer. He was lead member of a local entertainment band, Red Walker and the Sundowners. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Atlanta Braves. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlotte Elaine Walker; son, Henry L. Walker, Jr.; parents, Hilburn and Nettie Graham Walker; and sister, Ernestine Dixon.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Helen Bailey Walker; one son, Darrell Walker and wife April; two daughters, Diann Clark and Vivian Ann Harrell and husband Ricky all of Higgston; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 21st at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Randy McDuffie, Reverend Frankie Barfield, and Reverend Alvin Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Ferguson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
