Mrs. Gladys Hudson Pollett, age 83, of Oak Park, died Wednesday, August 7, 2019, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a brief illness. She was a native Oak Park where she lived most of her life, and lived in Estill, South Carolina for forty years where she owned and operated Jarrell Grocery in Nixville, South Carolina. She was a member of the Oak Park Church of God and enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and shopping. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Pollett; an infant son, Donald “Donnie” Waters; parents, Ernest Hudson and Sarah Lou Hadden Hudson; two sisters, Evelyn Hudson Story; and an infant sister.
Mrs. Pollett is survived by two children, Lillian “Lynn” Powell and husband Harry of Lyons, and Ronald “Ronnie” Waters and wife Marilyn of Vidalia; five grandchildren, Brian Powell and wife Amy of Waycross, Terry Powell and wife Brandie of Lyons, Brandon Waters and wife Chelsea of Vidalia, Jamie Lynn Wilson and husband Jeremy of Lyons, and Skylar Powell of Lyons, eleven great-grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Lauren, Logan, Landon, Ansleigh, Jared, Remington, Braydon, Jase and Chansley; one great-great-grandson, Colton, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday, August 9th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Oak Park Church of God with Pastor Brian Powell, Pastor Phillip Kirkland and Pastor Aaron Moncrief officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Park City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
