Ailey,

Mr. Gene Moore, age 85, of Ailey, died Sunday, January 7, 2018, at his home, after an extended illness.  He was a native of Montgomery County, and lived there most of his life.  He was a graduate Kibbee High School, and was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Korean War.  He worked with the Marbut Company in Vidalia for many years, and most recently with MPS Sales in Vidalia.  He was a member and Deacon of the Vidalia Old Line Primitive Baptist Church, and served as church treasurer for more than forty years.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest Edward Moore and Gladys Estelle West Moore.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of sixty years, Ann Phillips Moore of Ailey; two children, Mickey Moore and wife Debbie of Ailey, and Gina Moore Foster and husband Gordon of Soperton; three grandchildren, Jade Foster of Hermitage, Tennessee, Carley Durrence and husband Dylan of Reidsville, and Nolan Moore of Ailey; and a great-grandson to be born soon, Jed Durrence.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 10th at 3:00 p.m. in the Old Line Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Michael Meek and Elder Tommy Rountree officiating.  Burial will follow in the Braddy Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00.
