Lyons,
Mr. Frederick “Baby” Taylor, age 72, of the Johnson Corner Community, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County, lived in Johnson Corner most of his life, and was a graduate of Toombs Central High School. He retired after forty-two years from Altamaha EMC in Lyons, and was the owner of Taylor’s Grocery in Johnson Corner for many years. He served in the Army National Guard, and was a member of the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest D. Taylor, Sr. and Johnnie Wilson Taylor; and a brother, Ernest D. Taylor, Jr.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Vivian Joiner Taylor of Johnson Corner; two daughters, Sonja Dowd and husband Mark of Johnson Corner, and Carmen Collins of Reidsville; one brother, Jimmy Taylor of Johnson Corner; five grandchildren, Taylor Dowd and wife Laura of Lyons, Cody Dowd, Cole Dowd, both of Johnson Corner, and Eli Collins and Savana Collins of Reidsville; one great-granddaughter, Rachel Dowd; and several nieces and nephews, including a nephew Chad Powell.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 24th at 3:00 p.m. in the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating. Burial will follow in the Hardens Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
