Frank Allan Kersey Obituary

Reidsville,

Mr. Frank Allan Kersey, age 51, of Reidsville, died Tuesday, May 28, 2019.  He was a native of Toombs County, lived there until moving to Reidsville fourteen years ago, and was a 1987 graduate of Lyons Senior High School.  Early in his life, he worked with Hornbuckle Wholesale Florist in Lyons, and later worked with Georgia Department of Corrections in Tattnall County as a correctional officer.  He worked with CSA as a security guard in Kuwait, he later returned to the Georgia Department of Corrections, and has served as their Fire Chief since 2012.  He served as Battalion Chief for Tattnall County EMA.  He was a member of the Providence Baptist Church, was a former member of Inman Creek Masonic Lodge #491 in the Johnson Corner Community, and the Quint Shrine Club in Lyons.  Allan enjoyed NASCAR, especially Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt.  Also, he enjoyed Georgia football, fishing, and grilling.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Harlen Kersey and Martha Will Thigpen Kersey; and brother, Richard Kersey. 

Mr. Kersey is survived by his fiancée, Michelle Yarber of Reidsville; three children, Jessica Joiner and husband Dylan of Johnson Corner, Lonnie Allan Dakota Kersey of Lyons, and Dee Stephens of North Wales; one brother, Anthony Kersey and fiancé Susan Mosley; two grandchildren, Hunter Joiner and Maddox Joiner; and two nephews, Casey Kersey of Reidsville and Shane Brand of Pensacola, Florida.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 1st at 11:00 a.m. in the Liberty Baptist Church in Lyons with Pastor Michael Plowman officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 until just prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 2 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, Fl 33607.
