Lyons,
Mr. Frank H. Knight, age 85, of Lyons, went to be with Jesus Sunday, June 10, 2018 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness with Alzheimer’s. He was a native of Brimfield, Illinois, and lived there until joining the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he served on the U.S.S. Jenkins and fought in the Korean War. After his time in the Navy, he moved back to Illinois where he worked for Illinois Bell for thirty-two years and attended and taught Sunday school at Highview Church of God. Frank was a born again Christian, loved his church, his entire family, and taking his children and grandchildren fishing and camping. He and his wife moved to Lyons in 2017 to be closer to family and attended First Baptist Church of Vidalia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Clara Knight; one brother; four sisters; and four nephews.
Mr. Knight is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Phyllis Knight of Lyons; two daughters, Tina Eads and husband Bill of Faribault, Minnesota and Michele Grant and husband Bill of Lyons; one sister, Nancy Birdsell and husband Bill of Manassas, Virginia; six grandchildren, Dan Eads, Jon Eads, Brian Grant, Tina Carter, Adam Grant, and Molly Becker; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held Friday, June 15th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Tracy Todd officiating. Burial will follow in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
The honorary pallbearers are Dan Eads, Jon Eads, Bill Grant, Bill Eads, Brian Grant, and Adam Grant.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
