Eugenia (Culberson) McDilda

Mary Eugenia Culberson McDilda, age 79, of Lyons, died Saturday, March 2, 2019, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a lengthy illness.  She was a lifelong resident of Lyons, and graduated from Lyons High School in 1957 as Valedictorian of her class.  She was a homemaker and Music Literary Director at Robert Toombs Christian Academy.  Before retirement, Eugenia worked as a dental receptionist for Dr. Wilbur New in Lyons for twenty-three years.  She was chosen as Lyons Woman of the Year in 1995.  She was a charter member of The Oaks Baptist Church in Lyons where she was an ordained Deacon servant.  She devoted her life to her church.  She faithfully served in every capacity, but most especially will be remembered for her card ministry.  Thousands of cards have been sent through her church as well as her own personal card ministry.  Eugenia has been a favorite speaker among her peers and presented many programs throughout the years.  Her gift for encouraging others was her greatest gift.  She was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela McDilda; and parents, W.J. and Mary Ruth Wills Culberson.

Eugenia is survived by one daughter, Celeste Robison and husband John of Lyons; one grandson, Dr. Weston Robison and wife Susannah of Atlanta; one brother, Dr. Robert Culberson and wife Anne of Milledgeville; two nephews, Dr. Matt Culberson of Augusta and Mark Culberson of Milledgeville; and a special friend, Rita Ponder.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 5th at 3:00 p.m. in The Oaks Baptist Church with Reverend Josh Hughes, Rita Ponder, Robert Culberson and Pete Frost officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
