Duwayne Floyd Obituary

Alston,

Mr. Duwayne Floyd, age 40, of Alston, died Sunday, June 30, 2019, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  He was a native of Telfair County, living in Brunswick for several years and recently moved to Alston.  He earned an Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from Heart of Georgia Technical College in Dublin.  Duwayne worked as a respiratory therapist for several hospitals, including Tattnall Hospital and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. 

Mr. Floyd is survived by two children, Will Floyd of Collins and Ariel Floyd of Glennville; his mother, Etta Varnadoe of Alston; his step-father, Greg Varnadoe of McRae; one brother, Gregory Varnadoe and wife Mandi of Alston; and two nieces and one nephew.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cedar Crossing Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church, P.O. Box 157, Uvalda, GA 30473, or to the Community Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30475.
