Dr. Norman Milton Bevan, Jr., DDS, MD, age 84 of Leesburg, died Saturday, October 20, 2018, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a native of Live Oak, Florida and lived most of his life in Albany. He was a graduate of Suwannee High School in Live Oak, St. Petersburg Junior College in St. Petersburg, Florida, University of Tampa in Tampa, Florida, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, now the University of Maryland, and College of Medicine, University of Science, Arts and Technology in Olveston, Montserrat. Dr. Bevan practiced oral surgery and dentistry in Albany for many years, and was a member of the Georgia Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Milton Bevan, Sr. and Elma Holcomb Bevan; and a brother, Jerry Lee Bevan.
Dr. Bevan is survived by his wife, Charlotte Mullins Bevan of Leeburg; one daughter, Sharon Bevan Carpenter and husband Larry of Albany; two sons, Norman M. Bevan III and wife Kathy of Alston, and Robert Steven Bevan of Leesburg; one sister, Shirley Bevan Johnson of Desert Aire, Washington; one brother, Kenneth Van Bevan of St. Augustine, Florida; five grandchildren, Norman Brandon Bevan, Heather Bevan Proctor, Hannah Bevan Naude, William Lawrence Carpenter, Jr., and Joshua Andrew Carpenter; four great-grandchildren, Andrew Tucker Hodges, Ava Grace Proctor, Kammi Naude, and Ashtynn Naude; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 24th at 2:00 p.m. in the Live Oak Cemetery with Pastor Chester Proctor officiating.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
