Vidalia,
Mrs. Diane McGahee Caraway, age 51, of the Normantown Community, died Sunday, July 14, 2019, in Landmark Hospital in Savannah, after injuries received in an automobile accident on June 27th. She was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and attended the Oasis Church of God in Lyons. She worked at Shuman’s Cleaners, Hilton Restaurant and was manager at Dollar General. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Caraway; an aunt who raised her as a daughter, Shirley Hooks; her parents, William Carlton “Bill” McGahee and Rhonda Van Sconyers McGahee; and a brother, William McGahee.
Diane is survived by two children, Landon Meeks and fiancé Alyssa of Vidalia, and Alexis “Lexy” Caraway of Lyons; one grandson, Aubrey “A.J.” Meeks; a grandchild to be born in November; step-father, Junior Powell of Cedar Crossing; step-brother, Jeffery Powell of Vidalia; two brothers-in-law, Adam Caraway and wife Sheila, and Mitchell Caraway of Lyons; two sisters-in-law, Phelisha Caraway of Vidalia, and Paula McGahee of Alston; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her Oxley Park family.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 17th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Elemer Caraway officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
