Lyons,
Mr. David Morris, age 78, of Lyons, died Monday, March 11, 2019, in Meadows Health in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs, living there most of his life, and attended Lyons High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, and earlier in his life, he attended the First United Methodist Church of Lyons. He enjoyed going to the river, fishing, and loved animals. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Mandal “G.M.” Morris, Jr. and Annie Ruth Hilson Morris.
Mr. Morris is survived by three children, Deborah Morris Stewart and husband Dr. Shannon Stewart of Savannah; Jeff Morris and wife Jeannie Morris of Vidalia, and John Morris and wife Ashley Morris of Hazlehurst; six grandchildren, Tanner Youmans, Eric Dahl, Johnny Morris, Gracie Morris, Jessie Morris, and Jadyn Morris; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer Morris and Charlie Morris; four siblings, Douglas Morris of Lyons and his former wife Barbara, Dale Johnson and husband James of the Johnson Corner Community, Deane Joyner and husband Eugene of Lyons, and Dennis Morris and wife Linda of Juliette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A family gathering and a celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date.
