Mr. Dale Dykes, age 70, of Vidalia, died Friday, November 1, 2019, in Memorial Health University Hospital in Savannah, after a sudden illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and was a graduate of Vidalia High School. Dale started his fire service career with the City of Vidalia in 1972 with Vidalia Fire Department where ultimately became Assistant Fire Chief and retired in 2011. He was a member of the First Assembly of God and was a former member of Inman Creek Masonic Lodge #491. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Dykes and Margaret Ann Hardiman Beasley; one brother, Dwayne Dykes; and one grandchild, Brittany.
Mr. Dykes is survived by his wife of fifty years, Judy Rollins Dykes; seven children, Shawn Dykes and wife Trina, Jammie Dykes, Kevin Dykes, Maria Dykes, Amanda Dykes, Billy Dykes and Mariana Dykes, all of Vidalia; ten grandchildren, Kalie Dowd, Dillan Dykes and wife Katie, Summer Dykes, Alyssa Dykes, Emily Banks, Kiley Banks, Haley Bellew, Lilly Bellew, Ryan Dykes and Kolton Dykes; eight great-grandchildren, Jayden, Kayden, Weston, Daxton, Waylon, Kash, Wesley and Nolan.
The funeral service will be held Monday, November 4th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend David Knight and Reverend Joe Gabbard officiating. Burial will follow in the McCrimmon Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00.
