Message from Lisa Mims Stapp

Precious Wilkes/Burrell family,
Praying that God will comfort your hearts at this time.  I think of the verse "Jesus wept" and know that He is saddened by this tragedy. Even though we know that Jesus gave up His life of His own free will, it was an act of mankind that put Him on the cross.  God knows what you are feeling.  He alone will be able to get you through the days, weeks, and months ahead.  Trust Him and let Him carry you when you can not walk.  Please know that we will continue to uphold you in prayer!  Love, The Mims (Stapp) Family
Message from Jerry & Debbie Love

Praying for the family.I pray the Holy spirit to wrap you in his arms and help you to be comforted.
Message from Sheron & Joe Hulett

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of greif. We were shocked & saddened by your loss.
Message from Pastor & Mrs. Michael Branson

I was shocked and saddened to hear the news of Courtney''s tragic death.  Although I did not know her personally, she was a friend of our granddaughter who lives in Vidalia.  I became acquainted with Pastor Burrell when I pastored the First Assembly of God, Vidalia (1987-1999).

The greatest comfort that I know to offer at this time is found in the tremendous hope found in the pages of God''s Word, and the fact that this precious child is indeed "safe in the arms of Jesus."  Thank God for the wonderful assurance that we will meet again with those who have gone on before us, never again to be parted by death which scripture calls an "enemy."  Be assured of our prayers.
Message from Jimmy Winge

Cordy and Toni, I can say I know how you feel. With time and with the love from your family and your church family and friends and most importantly with the Love and Strength from God he will see you through the days to come.  With Deepest Sympathy.

Jimmy and Jamie Winge

Message from Nikki Page

I have started this over about 5 times because I cannot think of the words to say to you in such a sad time.  Words will not make things better, but I know that you and I share in the same faith---Jesus Christ.  I do know that faith will carry you when you think you cannot make another step.  Trust in Jesus to see you through each and every day.  Life is not, and will not be the same anymore, but God''s Word promises that He never changes, and He will not forsake us.                  May Jesus give you peace and comfort.

Message from Mary Ann Roberts

Toni, I have thought of not much else since I heard the news last Friday. I have been praying for you and all your family, that you will somehow find comfort and peace and strength. I have such fond memories of your family at Gilead, and remember what great senses of humor you all had and how sweet you all were. I enjoyed your dad speaking, and I remember sitting by you many times at church, maybe one pew in front of or behind you, on the left side. When I saw Courtney''s picture in the article last week, I thought, wow, she looks just like Toni.  What a testimony she has and how proud you must be of her.  And the fact that she had a pet cow and is in FFA endears her to me even though I did not know her.  God bless and comfort you all.  Love in Him,
Message from Ruth Lancaster

May you find some comfort in knowing you are in the thoughts and prayers of many.....many whom you don''t even know nor will you ever know. My heart is breaking for your family. God bless you and keep you in his arms of love. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Message from Maggie Brice Snell

Cordy and Toni,
As a parent to say I''m sorry for your loss seems so inadequate. I cannot imagine the hurt your hearts are going through now. I can say that I know God is with you and he will help to lessen this pain and to mend your families broken hearts. Courtney in her 15 yrs has set a great example and has a legacy to be proud of. I will continue to pray for your family.
Sincerely,
Maggie

Message from Suzanne Shotwell

My heart breaks for your family.  I learned of your heart break on a Christian website, GraceHope.com, where prayer for your family was requested.  Hearing of your daughter and her love for Jesus is awesome.  Also, when I saw that you are from Vidalia--I had to sent you a note--I have a personal connection to Vidalia; the man I planned to marry was from Vidalia originally and he too was murdered (in Alabama).  So I understand a bit of your heartbreak.  Yet, I know you take comfort in knowing you will be reunited with her in Heaven..though I know now -- your life is shattered.  Remember please, there are people praying for your family literally all over the world right now.  May God comfort you in ways that minister to you in ways that flood your with His love, grace and peace.

I am so sorry for your loss. I don''t know your family personally, but since this tragedy happened I have only heard wonderful things about your family and your precious daughter. I know our God makes no mistakes and I pray that he comforts your family and all of Courtney''s friends who are hurting right now. Hopefully you can take comfort in the fact that I have never seen a community of young people unite so forcefully and come together to try and help eachother heal. Although nothing can bring her back, her testimony will continue to live on even in death in the way she has brought our community, our region, our state and people from across state lines together.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Wilkes,
I am so terribly sorry for your loss of your precious daughter. I cannot begin to know the pain your family is going through. My heart is so sadden since the day I heard what happened. Your daughter Courtney and your family have consumed my thoughts and prayers the last few days. She is now with our Lord and one of the prettiest angels that God could have by his side. You will continue to be in my prayers. God Bless you and your family.

My condolences to your family during this great time of sadness.   We are here on earth for such a short time. I pray that God will give you strength and comfort knowing you will be reunited with your beautiful daughter in heaven with our Lord and Savior. God bless you.
Message from Phyllis and Darrell Stephens

Toni, we are sorry to learn of the loss of your precious Courtney.  We have been in prayer daily and will continue to remember you in the difficult days ahead.  Just know that your name is engraved in the palms of the Lord (Isaiah 49:16) and you can be confident of His presence, certain of His promises, and assured of His love.  Saying goodbye is the most difficult thing in life and we never learn to be good at it.  However, God is our refuge and strength, a very present in trouble.  (Ps. 46:1)  God bless and comfort you.
Message from The Cook Family Brunswick, GA

We do not know your family personally, but want to let you know that we are so very sorry to hear about your precious Courtney.  We are thinking of you and keeping your entire family in our prayers! May God comfort you in the days ahead.
Message from S.K. Simpkins

We thought about you today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. We think of you in silence, We often speak your name. All we have are memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake-from which We''ll never part. God has you in his ...arms...We have you in our heart.
Message from Ben and Tish Collins

We am so sorry for your loss.  We are keeping your family in our prayers.  My GOD comfort you and your family in this time of need.
Message from Cheryl Crawford

There are no perfect words . . . I believe that your beautiful daughter Courtney is in the arms of an angel.  I pray that you will find some measure of peace and comfort during this time.  Courtney has touched many lives through her life and through her death, and I pray that the many wonderful memories that you have of her will help sustain you.  May God''s blessings enfold you and nurture you.
Message from Mack & Suzanne Smith

May God continue to comfort and strengthen your family during this difficult time.  All of you are in our prayers!
Message from Sharese, Tony & Jade

My daughter, Jade was a friend of Courtney''s.  They became closer this school year.  The FFA Stockyard was an amazing time for her.  I did all their makeup and enjoyed myself, too.  Courtney was a beautiful young lady that was always smiling.  She and alot of her other friends started calling me mama.  I always wanted to be close to Jade''s friends.  When she saw Jade, she would say, Hey Sister, I love you.  Jade would reply back with the same.  I was searching and searching for something for you to read.  I think I have found a poem that you will love.  May GOD continue to bless you and your family today and always.

If tomorrow starts without me,
And I''m not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn''t cry the way you did today,
While thinking of the many things, we didn''t get to say.
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you''ll miss me too;
But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,
And said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I''d have to leave behind;
All those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye
For all my life, I''d always thought,
I didn''t want to die.
I had so much to live for, So much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for a while,
I''d say good-bye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
Would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven''s gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,
He said, "This is eternity, And all I''ve promised you."
Today your life on earth is past,
But here life starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow, But today will always last,
And since each day''s the same way,
There''s no longing for the past.
You have been so faithful, So trusting and so true.
Though there were times you did some things,
You knew you shouldn''t do.
But you have been forgiven, And now at last you''re free.
So won''t you come and take my hand, And share my life with me?
So when tomorrow starts without me, Don''t think we''re far apart,
For every time you think of me, I''m right here, in your heart.

Message from Cathy Hackle

Even though I didn''t know Courtney, nor your family, this news has touched me and my family/friends.  I am both angered and sadden.  Angry that we live in a world where bad things like this can happen to good christian people, and sadden that such a young beautiful daughter has been taken from her family.  My husband''s family (Powells) are from Lyons so even though we don''t know you, your family has a special place in our hearts. I pray that your faith will grow even stronger and that the Lord will provide strength for your family in the days ahead.  He promised he''d never forsaken us and would be there in our darkest hour.  My condelscences to you and your family.
Message from Patrick and Connie Toole

There are no words to take the hurt away but know that we, just like many, are praying for you and your entire family.  Courtney has been a christian role model to many, especially young people at her school.  She also believed in hard work and dedication.  They saw her live out her beliefs and convictions.  That is awesome!  She was strong in her faith, work, and loved by many!  Hold on to that and lean on your family and friends in the days ahead.  May God give you comfort.  We love you!
Message from Syvetta D. Young

Trust in God to give you the strength and courage needed to face the days ahead. You have my deepest sympathy. Your family will be lifted up in my prayers. I am a friend of Mrs. Judy Mosley.

Wes and Family: "Grief turns out to be a place none of us know until we reach it," We don''t know the depth of your suffering, but we are praying for you all in this difficult time. Courtny would seems to have been a beautiful person, and so very brave. It has been shared by Wes to us that Toni was the most giving and loving of parent, who nurtured Courtney in every possible way. Our prayer is that the measure of your love for each other and for Courtney- and hers for you- may embrace and hold you in this time of loss. Message from Betty Ann Gunn (Patrick Farms)

I don''t even know if there are any words or deeds that can be said or done right now that would help take away some of the pain and anger.  I can''t even imagine taking my next breath without choking.  Your family has been on my mind since this happened and it is like a dark cloud is blocking the sunshine of my heart.  Words aren''t enough to help ease the pain, but that is all I have.  Please know that I am praying for your family and will continue to do so. My prayer right now is that God will breathe for you, so that you can keep on going through this horrible nightmare and come out on the other side with some sense of peace and good memories of Courtney.  With God''s help, the evil of this world will not keep her memory from you.

Message from Conway and Fran Jones / Boiling Springs Baptist Church

There are no perfect answers nor words to say that can ease your pain at this time. However, Jesus suffered, died and rose again, so that we might have eternal life and His peace.
The testimony of this precious young lady will be used by God to change many lives and the dignity that each of you have portrayed during this most difficult time is also a testimony to the grace of God in your lives. May our saviour give you peace and overcoming power in the days ahead.
We are praying now and will pray constantly for God to pour out His Spirit on your family.
May He richly bless you and keep you always.

You have been on my heart heavily and in my prayers daily since hearing about the loss of Courtney.  My daughter, Kristina, also 15, was in Destin the same week with our church group.  We try so hard to make all the right decisions for our children but the fact remains that their life is still in God''s hands and everything is in His control.  We do not understand why and I can''t begin to imagine how you must be feeling but I do know that God will give you the strength you need.  Cry when you need to and as much as you need to......those are better than words to God''s ears.

Message from Marjorie Tatter

Serving in Balimba of the Rep. of Chad in Africa I only learned of the death of Courtney ysterday.  My heart cries for you and causes me to remember when I was 13 and lost  a friend who was accidentally shot in a hunting accident.  It had the effect of causing our entire class to think about our eternity.  I''m so sorry for your loss and rest in prayers especially for the immediate family.  I find it comforting to read the Psalms when I''m overwhelmed at the loss.  Both of my parents died and I was unable to be with them at their homegoing though I did attend their funerals.
