Mt. Vernon,
Mr. Chris “Thig” Thigpen, age 39, of Mt. Vernon, died Tuesday, August 20, 2019, in Serenity Hospice Place in Dublin, after an extended illness. He was a native of Treutlen County, a 1998 graduate of Treutlen County High School and attended East Georgia College in Swainsboro. He worked in the family business as a carpenter for several years and as a HVAC installer with the Sack Company in Statesboro for ten years. He was Baptist by faith and was a member of the Montgomery County Horseshoe Club. He was a pitcher in League softball for many years, and enjoyed corn hole, fishing, most sports and was an avid fan of the Tennessee Volunteers. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Wayne “Weezy” Thigpen.
Chris is survived by his wife, Kimberly Edge Thigpen; one son, Bryson Thigpen, both of Mt. Vernon; his mother, Cathy Thigpen of Soperton; maternal grandmother, Yvonne Shell of Braselton; paternal grandmother, Maxine Dorsey and husband Harrell of Soperton; three brothers, Shane Thigpen and wife Ashley, Daniel Thigpen and Jessica, and Kyle Thigpen, all of Soperton, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special aunt and uncle, Pam and Joe Moxley of Tarrytown.
The funeral service will be held Friday, August 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Glis Cribb and Reverend Arnie Raj officiating. Burial will follow in the Thigpen Cemetery in the Rockledge Community in Treutlen County.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 8:00.
